Once again time to leave the best hotel in the world. Many thanks for a wonderful stay - and the best steak I have ever eaten

Other Activities

QuadsAlthough Tomdoun is a walker’s Mecca, that is only one of the many activities available and on offer at the hotel. Tomdoun has excellent opportunities for the mountain biker, whether he or she is a complete novice, or an experienced enthusiast. For those who are new to the activity, and wish to try before they buy, the hotel has mountain bikes for hire. These can be utilised on the old road, now closed to cars, over to Loch Loyne from Tomdoun, or on one of the many traffic free forestry paths around Loch Garry. (See Ordnance Survey Landranger 34, Fort Augustus. Showing these tracks.) Some people might simply hire a bike for a day to make that elusive Munro a bit more accessible! For the more adventurous cyclist, and for the more experienced, Tomdoun lies little more than 10 miles from the Great Glen Cycle Route, a long distance, off road experience that takes mountain bikers from Fort William to Inverness, though users can go as far, or as little, as they chose on this well-maintained and well-waymarked route. And of course Fort William itself is now the location for the annual World Mountain Biking Championships, which take place in and around Aonach Mor, and which have proved to be a crowd pulling spectator attraction, as well as one drawing hundreds of participants. And as if all this was not enough to exhaust you, the hotel has arranged a wide variety of other outdoor pursuits through its links with Monster Activities, including white water rafting, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking in summer, and skiing and snowboarding in winter. You will never be bored at Tomdoun and neither, importantly, will the kids!
